Manchester United Has Signed a 9-Year-Old - A nine-year-old boy has signed a contract with one of the world's best soccer teams. Rhain Davis' grandfather sent Manchester United a DVD which featured the youngster's soccer skills. His family has moved from Australia to England so that Rhain can play at the team's academy. British newspapers are calling him "the new Wayne Rooney".

China Prepares for the Beijing Olympics - With only a year to go before the 2008 Summer Olympics, China is busy getting ready for the world's biggest sporting event. Chinese officials said on Monday that they expect almost all of the venues, the places where sports are played, will be finished by the end of this year. They also said that ticket sales for next year's Beijing Olympics are going well. Many people believe the Games will be a success. "I am sure that the Olympic Games in Beijing will be the best in Olympic history," former International Olympic Committee president Juan Antonio Samaranch said.

American Weapons Are Missing in Iraq - Almost 200,000 American weapons are unaccounted for in Iraq. The United States military gave the AK-47 rifles and pistols to Iraqi security forces in 2004 and 2005. The American military, however, does not know the present whereabouts of those weapons, almost 30 percent of the total given to Iraq. There are fears that some of the weapons are now in the hands of insurgents who are fighting against U.S. forces in Iraq.

A Busy Bridge Collapsed - An ordinary drive home from work turned into a nightmare for people in Minneapolis yesterday. At least nine people died and more than 60 were injured after a bridge collapsed in the late afternoon. Twenty people are still missing.
